DRIFTS
A downloadable adventure
DRIFTS is a solo cartography journaling game. You become a nomad, journeying the dunes and trying your best to remember.
Drifts, giant sandstorms that plague the lands, drag memories from all and leave fragments of lost civilisations. You have taken it upon yourself to document all you can, hoping to pass down any knowledge.
Traverse the dunes on your sandbike, maintaining this machine is key to survival. You will find settlements, ruins, mysterious landscapes, friends, and dangers, only for the memory of them to be lost to the Drifts.
To stop is to perish.
DRIFTS was created for One-Page RPG Jam 2024
Submitted for part of the Free Zine Week 2024 Bundle
I created DRIFTS as an exploration into your mind. Your nomad is thrust into a situation with no memory and no objective. Are they searching for something? Trying to find a link to their past. Or are they set with wandering until their sandbike wears out? How would you react with no memory of your past life?
The Futures Foreseen are there to aid in your questions. Is this place familiar? Do I recognise a sign that I may have been here before? Is this dwelling safe to make camp or will I face a danger I cannot recall? The themes will aid in creating a unique story for each landmark.
You decide your nomads aims.
DRIFTS can be z-folded.

This is just so creative on so many levels. I love the idea of the sandstorms drag out memories and leave fragments of lost civilizations making an almost endlessly fresh world to explore and lost of replay-ability. And the ticking clock of your dying sand bike. The layout is gorgeous and perfectly utilitarian. Haven’t played this one through yet but it’s clear (just like the layout and design) that this is a good one!
I like the look of this - good clean design. And great vibe overall!
Thank you! I'm going to be updating this a bit more!
Yo, I loved this theme! For sure I'll try this adventure soon, great design work :)
